• Black Night

    Poster, June 2012
    Self Initiative Project
  • A poster protesting the municipal intentions to hold the popular Tel Aviv's White Night 2012 Festival a mere week after a mass demonstration that resulted in police brutality and numerous arrests.

In 1925 the Israeli artist Nachum Gutman designed the historical (and no longer in use) symbol of Tel Aviv. It features a luminescent lighthouse on top of a fortified city with a wide open gate. In the Black Night poster - the lighthouse is dark, the city walls are sealed, and the sea is stormy. The typeface, also nostalgic, was designed in 1926 by Pesach Ir-Shay.
